Tomorrow's Grace

how dark it must have been
when all turned against Him
when friends left
when strangers mocked

how dark it must have been
to feel alone
-with nails piercing hands
to feel terrified of sin's ugly stain
-only because sin was unfamiliar
to feel separation from Love itself

obedient pain
obedient strength in weakness
obedient resignation

You, Oh LORD, are so deserving of heaven

my life sometimes like that smoldering wick
only a glimpse of light
only a touch of hope
only a heartbeat away
-a different sort of resignation

horizon blue and blazing
signaling tomorrow's grace
thanksgiving for the cross
where His obedience teaches
something higher
something blazing with hope
something unforgettable
